Thailand is gearing up for its annual showcase of marine and luxury from 29 November to 2 December when leaders in the country’s boating and luxury lifestyle industries come together for the 7th Ocean Marina Pattaya Boat Show, and where consumers gather to see the latest products and technologies on offer.

“Ocean Marina Pattaya Boat Show has seen steady growth in the last six years. The number of boats and brands has increased year-on-year, and in 2017 visitor numbers were up 23% on the previous year,” said Mr. Napong Paripontpochanapisuti, Acting Managing Director, Ocean Property Co. Ltd., organisers of the Ocean Marina Pattaya Boat Show.

“We invest over 10 million baht each year to host the event which is a key platform to boost business and tourism in the region. Ocean Marina Pattaya Boat Show generates more than two billion baht annually for the industry and we expect the marine industry to grow more than 10% per year.”

2017 was a record year for the show with almost 6,000 visitors from 22 countries attending. With strong support from the Thai Government, organisers are investing heavily in a comprehensive online/offline visitor marketing campaign targetting HNWIs throughout Asia and key cities in China, expectations are 2018 will be the best show yet.

Pattaya’s popularity as a seaside destination is at an all time high with more than 14 million visitors in 2017. Visitors are expected to increase as additional airlift and capacity at U-Tapao Rayong-Pattaya International Airport comes online, and the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) project starts to take shape. Linking Pattaya, via the Hua Hin ferry, with the Thai Government’s “Thai Riviera” project – which reaches from Petchaburi to Ranong – further strengthens Thailand’s East Coast as a prime tourism and business region.

“We are already seeing the benefits of East Coast growth in the marine industry. Charter and day trips are up 20% year-on-year, the number of new boats sold into the region is up 10% year-on-year and international yachts visiting the area is also increasing on the back of government changes to immigration last year. At Ocean Marina Yacht Club we are catering to this increased demand by expanding our capacity 15% to 440 berths,” said Mr. Scott Finsten, Harbour Master of Ocean Marina Yacht Club, organisers of the Ocean Marina Pattaya Boat Show.

From jet-powered surfboards to Flyboards, Seadoos, SEABOBs, Seabreachers, SUPs and more, organisers expect these, together with the popular free yacht cruises, to appeal to a demographic that is increasingly showing an interest in boating.

The show has an impressive 20,000 sqm of exhibition space and in addition to the in-water boat display, demos and onshore marine products and services, exhibitors will include super bikes and cars, real estate, home products, hotels and resorts, food and beverage, and lots of activities for families. Pattaya To Become Marine Leisure Hub Of Asia

Ocean Marina Pattaya Boat Show official media launch.

Ocean Marina Pattaya Boat Show official media launch.

Organisers of the sixth Ocean Marina Pattaya Boat Show expect more than two billion baht (approx. US$60 million) of trade to be generated by the show while supporting the government’s policy to make Thailand the “Marina Hub of ASEAN” and showcasing the marine leisure credentials – onshore and off – of the Gulf of Thailand. To be held 23 – 26 November at Ocean Marina Yacht Club in Pattaya, the Ocean Marina Pattaya Boat Show is a key consumer boat show in the region, showcasing global boat brands and marine products to a Thai market with a growing appetite for the marine leisure lifestyle.

According to the Tourism Authority of Thailand, Pattaya welcomed approximately 8 million visitors in H1 2017 with spending up 15% on the same period in 2016, while Euromonitor International’s Top 100 City Destinations Ranking placed Pattaya as the 20th in the world by number of visitors.

“Pattaya is showing strong growth in visitor arrivals and receipts and is central to the development of the country’s Eastern Economic Corridor. Ocean Marina Pattaya Boat Show has an important role to play in this, being the leading platform for marine businesses to promote their products and services to a domestic and international audience. Now in its sixth year, the consumer-focused show has earned a reputation as being a boat show for boat lovers, where people come to see and test the latest products in the industry, and has a track record of trade,” said Dr. Tirachai Pipitsupaphol, Managing Director, Ocean Property.

Top international yachting brands will exhibit alongside Thailand’s leading marine businesses with pleasure yachts and commercial vessels ranging from under 1 million baht to superyachts priced at more than 200 million baht. New and brokerage boats, charter services, Thai boat builders, and a wide range of marine products and services will be on display over the four days.

“Ocean Marina Pattaya Boat Show actively promotes the Gulf of Thailand with it’s spectacular cruising grounds and world-class onshore facilities, and generates a direct economic gain for the marine and tourism industries in Thailand’s East through trade at the show and business stimulated thereafter. This year we expect the show to exceed more than two billion baht in trade,” added Dr. Tirachai.

With the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) a national government priority, Ocean Marina Yacht Club have been actively working with government departments and authorities to promote and develop, the East Coast and Gulf of Thailand’s marine leisure facilities.

“Thailand’s East Coast has huge leisure potential. The natural marine assets are relatively untouched and following changes by the Customs Department last year we are receiving more inquiries from international pleasure boats and superyachts who wish to berth themselves in Pattaya and discover the Gulf of Thailand. We are also seeing more Thai people chartering boats for private vacations and more charter companies opening up in the Gulf region to cater to this market. In terms of day trips to nearby islands, this segment is growing rapidly – in H1 2017 18,000 people on average per month departed from Ocean Marina Yacht Club to the islands, up 60% year-on-year. All this bodes well for the local marine industry and provides a solid foundation for further growth of the marine leisure sector in the Gulf of Thailand,” said Mr. Scott Finsten, Harbour Master of Ocean Marina Yacht Club.

Kicking off the Asian boat show season, more than 6,000 people are expected to visit the 20,375 sqm of onshore and in-water exhibition space at the Ocean Marina Pattaya Boat Show. A multi-billion baht line-up of boats and businesses will be showcasing everything from small day boats to superyachts, marine products and services, luxury cars and property, and all manner of marine gadgets and water toys. Highlights include experiential activities for visitors and in-water demonstrations from Seabreacher, Jetsurf and many more, as well as free daily yacht cruises.

Held from 23 – 26 November 2017 at Ocean Marina Yacht Club, Pattaya, Thailand, the Ocean Marina Pattaya Boat Show is open daily from 11:00 – 19:00 (closing at 18:00 on Sunday) and entry is free to all.

EEC to drive Marine Tourism boom in Thailand’s East
Ocean Marina Pattaya Boat Show to be held 23 – 26 November, 2017 in Pattaya

PATTAYA, Thailand – The Thai Government is driving ahead with its Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) plans to develop Thailand’s Gulf region into a key business and leisure hub. With expansion of U-Tapao Rayong-Pattaya International Airport and high speed rail linking Don Muang, Suvarnabhumi and U-Tapao airports already approved, an additional 230 billion baht has been approved for the third phase of the Laem Chabang deep-sea port, the third phase of the Map Ta Phut deep-sea port and a double-track rail network linking Laem Chabang, Map Ta Phut and Sattahip deep-sea ports, all of which will drive marine tourism in the East of Thailand.

Speaking of the growing importance of Thailand’s East and its geographical importance in the region, Mr. Scott Finsten, Harbour Master of Ocean Marina Yacht Club, said, “The Gulf of Thailand has tremendous natural assets, both offshore and on, and it’s encouraging to see the region getting priority attention from the Thai Government. Not only is Thailand’s East seeing significant government investment but private investment is also increasing. This brings further development of the leisure infrastructure and with Ocean Marina Yacht Club – the largest marina in South East Asia – and Ocean Marina Pattaya Boat Show, we are positioned to support this growth.”

Billed as ‘Thailand’s Biggest Outdoor Lifestyle Boat Show’, the 2017 Ocean Marina Pattaya Boat Show retains its premier position in the global marine events calendar kicking off the Asian boat show season from 23 – 26 November. Organised by and hosted at Ocean Marina Yacht Club in Pattaya, the event has established itself as the place to do business for the regional marine industry with more than 150 businesses expected to showcase their products and services to an ever-growing number of people with an interest in the marine lifestyle.
“I am pleased to announce that we will be hosting the Ocean Marina Pattaya Boat Show for the sixth year from 23 – 26 November at Ocean Marina Yacht Club. Our objective has been clear from day one; that the event be a strategic growth driver for the regional marine industry. The event attracts a growing number of visitor nationalities to experience the best of marine tourism in the East of Thailand each year and this year we aim to grow on our past five years of success. The onshore and in-water displays will be bigger than ever and there will be lots of activities and fun for everyone from the serious boat buyer to the family member who wants to get a glimpse of the marine lifestyle on offer,” commented Mr. Finsten.

Ocean Marina Pattaya Boat Show generates a minimum of two billion baht annually for the marine and tourism industry in the East through trade at the show and business stimulated throughout the year.

Ocean Marina Yacht Club

“We have a track record of boat and product sales at the show since we started. But what’s even more important than this are the leads made and the deals and transactions that take place after the show. The event provides a marketing platform and opportunity for interested visitors to see what’s on offer from the industry, and with our close proximity to Bangkok we see many city residents make appointments to come back in the weeks and months after the show for private viewings and sea trials, which leads to more sales,” added Mr. Finsten. “With the EEC gaining momentum and investment pouring into the East coast, marine tourism is set to boom over the coming years.”

The 4-day event format with exhibits along the marina front immediately next to the in-water displays has proven popular with both exhibitors and visitors, and underscores the marine lifestyle that is at the core of the Ocean Marina Pattaya Boat Show. The 6th Ocean Marina Pattaya Boat Show will take place 23 – 26 November at Ocean Marina Yacht Club, Pattaya, Thailand.
